A source close to the project told Bollywood Hungama that the announcement will be made on Diwali and the actors would start filming in mid-2023. "Ramayana is among the biggest Indian films of all time and the makers have pulled off a casting coup by signing two of the biggest millenial stars: Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor. Both the actors have agreed in principal to be a part of this film and have tentatively blocked their calenders from mid next year for Ramayana," the source added.

While reports of Deepika Padukone joining the project have also been making rounds on the internet but the report mentioned that the casting for Sita is still underway. Plus, the upcoming mythological drama is reported to remain true to its roots, it is expected to be high on VFX.

While Ranbir's 'Brahmastra' is all set to release in September, Hrithik has wrapped the filming of 'Vikram Vedha' and soon start shooting for Siddharth Anand's 'Fighter' co-starring Deepika.
