‘The Voice’ Fans Are Losing It Over The ‘Tension’ Caught On Camera Between Gwen Stefani And Camila Cabello

Camila Cabello‘s arrival as the newest coach on The Voice initially excited fans, but after a “tense” and “awkward” new clip of her on the show dropped, some are worried about her relationship with co-worker Gwen Stefani. This week, the four judges (including Blake Shelton and John Legend) watched competitors perform in the long-awaited blind auditions, and tried to convince hopefuls to join their teams.

When contestant Morgan Myles blew everyone away with her soaring vocals and impassioned rendition of Leonard Cohen’s classic 1984 hit “Hallelujah,” both Cabello, 25, and Stefani, 52, hit their red buttons within seconds. (This would then make their chairs turn around and show Myles that they wanted her to choose one of them to be her coach on the show).

The thing is, Cabello purposely blocked Stefani by pressing another button, meaning that while Stefani’s chair could turn around, Myles could not choose the “Luxurious” hitmaker to be her coach. The word “blocked” in giant red letters was plastered just in front of Stefani’s chair, and Legend looked shocked with a grimace on his face, reacting to what had just transpired (and what was about to come).

Legend and Shelton also hit their red buttons, meaning that Myles would have had four judges to choose from, but thanks to Cabello, she now only had three. After Myles concluded her performance, Stefani immediately stepped up, walked toward the stage and said, “I turn around, she looks straight into my soul, she was like, ‘There’s Gwen Stefani I want to be on her team…'” The “Hollaback Girl” singer was then interrupted by Cabello, who added, “She didn’t say that.” Stefani maintained, “In her heart she did, I felt it. And then look, it was blocked!” Legend then acknowledged what he saw, chiming in, “And Camila took that from her.”

Some fans on Twitter expressed that they could “feel tension” between Cabello and Stefani, with one adding, “blocking her was not cool.” Others noted that “this is just how ‘The Voice’ works” and that there’s “probably no bad blood between them.” (We sure hope not, and it doesn’t seem that way!)

Legend then attempted to sway Myles to choose him, saying, “We don’t get a lot of people singing that song because it’s so intimidating. It was exquisite, one of the best blind auditions I’ve seen in quite a long time.” Shelton tried to relate to Myles, who hails from Nashville, and said, “When I moved to Nashville, I was 17 years old, and I started singing demos for songwriters. Your gift is that you can make people really believe what you’re singing about, and you just need somebody to help you along that journey.”

Ultimately, Cabello prevailed, convincing Myles to join her team after she told the contestant, “I want what’s best for you and if what you want is Blake’s support and help to be a country artist, absolutely.” The former Fifth Harmony member continued, “If what you want is to (find) your own lane – you’re not a country artist, you’re not a pop artist, you’re just Morgan – then I would be really excited to work with you.”

As some fans wonder if Myles “would have chosen Gwen Stefani” to be her coach if the “Havana” singer didn’t block her from doing so, others are discussing how Stefani still could be Myles’ coach in the future if Cabello ever let her go and if Stefani used the show’s “steal” option. With those pipes and stage presence though, we think it’s pretty likely that Cabello will stick with Myles for the long haul.
